Love’s probably many things. But perhaps, more than anything else, it’s a desire to feel belonged. Not owned, not chained, just belonged. A desire to become and remain loyal to just one. The desire to belong wholly and solely to only them. The desire to not want to pay attention to anyone but them. The desire to reserve the luxuries of the body, and the treasures of the mind for them. The desire to not desire or allow any trespassers upon any emotional property held jointly with them.
It’s perhaps all these desires, together, that make love, love. That tell it apart from ordinary attraction and lust.
Love is wanting to be loyal.
