You see what it’s like in a medical setup? Everybody around is suddenly kind to everybody else. Everybody’s suddenly very accommodating of everybody else. The thing is, people who’ve suffered or are suffering, and others who’ve known pain from up close, become sensitive to the suffering of others. They grow respect for them. They develop this unconscious understanding that they’re all in the same boat. That, somehow, they’re in this thing, suffering, together. Only that, when they step outside, they forget, they change. They forget we’re all still in this thing together. Distanced, disconnected, yet in the same boat. ~ Mickey Kumra
